Online courses for health professionals focused on improving cardiovascular care

We offer healthcare professionals numerous clinical and non-clinical courses to increase knowledge and improve patient management for cardiovascular care.

These online courses have been developed by healthcare professionals and industry experts in health services.

The Heart Foundation Six Steps to Cardiac Recovery eLearning interactive module is available to help health professionals facilitate effective bedside education after a heart attack and/or angina diagnosis.

Watch this video for an overview.

The engaging module is essential for cardiac nurses and contributes to annual CPD points. This training is endorsed by the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association (ACRA) and takes two hours to complete.

This course provides training for health professionals in the acute and primary health care sectors on how to identify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients in accordance with standard practice.

The course aims to:

  • Increase understanding of the importance, responsibilities and reasons for identifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

  • Improve knowledge, skills and confidence to identify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and record identification data in line with standard practice.

This course was developed in line with the National Safety and Quality in Health Services Standards (second edition) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practice (fifth edition).

This course from the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) is based on the Australian Guideline for assessing and managing cardiovascular disease risk.

It summarises the guideline’s key recommendations, explores the concepts of risk factors and reclassification factors, and builds confidence in using the Aus CVD Risk calculator.

You will also find information about the Heart Foundation programs and resources to support assessment and management and inspire practice changes to improve systematic assessment and management of your patients.

The course is free for APNA members.
