National Primary Care Virtual Roadshow

Get involved in the Heart Foundation’s Primary Care Virtual Roadshow

We're excited to announce that our cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention workshops are returning in 2025, coming to priority regions across Australia.

The Heart Foundation’s Primary Care Virtual Roadshows provide locally tailored, in-depth educational sessions, delivered in partnership with PHNs across Australia.

These sessions utilise a virtual ‘small group’ learning approach, providing a resource for primary care health professionals to improve their knowledge in CVD prevention and management.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of mortality in Australia, accounting for one in four deaths nationwide.¹ As cardiovascular disease (CVD) is largely preventable, accurate risk assessment is critical in reducing the burden of this chronic disease .²

An individual’s risk of developing CVD is determined by the combined effect of multiple risk factors. Consequently, comprehensive risk assessment is central to the primary prevention of CVD. It enables early identification and modification of risk factors, guides the initiation of pharmacotherapy for those most likely to benefit, and informs clinical decision-making.³

Despite this, CVD risk remains poorly managed across the population. Although one in three Australians are eligible for a CVD risk assessment, many do not have current blood pressure or cholesterol measurements recorded, and over 70% of individuals identified as high-risk are not receiving recommended blood pressure or lipid-lowering therapies.⁴

To help streamline CVD prevention and overcome region-specific challenges, we have been partnering with Primary Health Networks (PHNs) in priority regions to bring continuing professional development (CPD) accredited educational activities, one roadshow at a time.

Upcoming roadshows

Join us in the upcoming virtual roadshow, presented in partnership with WentWest PHN on Tuesday 26 August 2025 6:30 to 8pm.

  • attracted an average registration of >160+ health professionals per workshop
  • seen an average attendance rate of 46%
  • received an average recommendation score of 8.7
