Chai-style overnight oats

Spiced with chai flavours and pear, these creamy overnight oats are an easy, grab and go heart-healthy breakfast for busy mornings.

Ingredients

rolled oats

½ cup wholegrain rolled oats

chia seeds

1 tablespoon chia seeds

small pear

1 small pear (200g), halved

ground cinnamon and mixed spice

¼ teaspoon each of ground cinnamon and mixed spice

maple syrup

1 teaspoon maple syrup

Greek yoghurt

2 tablespoons reduced fat plain Greek yoghurt, plus extra 2 teaspoons to serve

Milk

½ cup reduced-fat milk

Seed mix

2 teaspoons seed mix, to serve

Raspberries

30g raspberries, to serve

ground cinnamon

Extra pinch ground cinnamon, to serve

Method

Place oats and chia seeds in a jar or container (750ml capacity).

Grate half the pear. Reserve remaining pear half in a container in the fridge for serving. Add grated pear, spices and maple syrup to oats and chia mix.

Add yoghurt and milk. Stir until well combined.

Cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve topped with extra yoghurt, seed mix, raspberries, extra cinnamon and chopped, reserved pear.

Tips

  • Overnight oats are an ideal make-ahead breakfast to take to work or for after activity. Pack containers in a chiller bag, ready to grab and go in the morning.
  • You can use honey instead of maple syrup.
  • Pear can be swapped with an apple, if preferred.
