Anna has over 20 years’ experience in the cardiovascular research sector, both in Australia and overseas. This has allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the cardiovascular research landscape and the key issues affecting cardiovascular health. She is passionate about driving change to improve health and brings a strategic and evidence-based approach to her work.
Prior to joining the Heart Foundation, Anna was an Associate Professor at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute where she led a multidisciplinary research program, collaborating with international leaders and industry partners to make key impacts to advance the field, resulting in over 60 publications.
Anna has led the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion and promoting early and mid-career researcher capacity and sustainability, to ensure a thriving and dynamic cardiovascular research sector.
Anna has held honorary Principal Fellow and lecturer roles at the University of Melbourne and Monash University as well as leadership roles with the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance and the Australian Atherosclerosis Society.

The role of the Board is to provide strategic oversight and direction for the Heart Foundation’s activities and ensure that those organisational activities are directed towards achieving its vision of an Australia free of heart disease and its mission to prevent heart disease and improve the heart health and quality of life of all Australians through our work in prevention, support and care and research.
