Associate Professor Nicholas Cox is an interventional cardiologist with an interest in infarct angioplasty and cardiogenic shock.
Currently the Head of Cardiology at Western Health Melbourne, he championed the establishment of pivotal cardiology units and services in Victoria, including one of Australia’s highest volume STEMI services and Australia's first cardiogenic shock program. As a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne he has built innovative cardiac care models and systems while mentoring the next generation of cardiology trainees. A/Prof Cox is experienced in governance roles as a graduate of the Australian institute of Company Directors and as a Board member of the National Heart Foundation of Australia.
A/Prof Cox academic background includes over 60 publications.
A/Prof Cox trained at Melbourne University, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, and The Brigham and Women’s' Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

The role of the Board is to provide strategic oversight and direction for the Heart Foundation’s activities and ensure that those organisational activities are directed towards achieving its vision of an Australia free of heart disease and its mission to prevent heart disease and improve the heart health and quality of life of all Australians through our work in prevention, support and care and research.
