NSW CVRN Career Advancement Grant

Purpose:

Provides funding to support Early-Mid Career Researchers (EMCRs) who are returning to research after a significant leave of absence to subsidise activities to:

  • Enable researchers to build their capacity and capability, thereby strengthening their career track records and​
  • Enhance their competitiveness for research grant funding.

NSW CVRN Career Advancement Grants are open to:

  • EMCRs (0–10 years post PhD) whose research is in the field of cardiovascular disease and related conditions (diabetes, kidney disease, stroke)
  • ​Members of the NSW CVRN
  • Employees of a CVRN Umbrella Organisation or an affiliated institution

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Have been awarded but be no more than 10 years post PhD unless you can demonstrate there are valid circumstances for career disruptions.
  • Valid visa/residency status for the duration of funding
  • Be a member of the NSW CVRN and employed at a NSW CVRN member or affiliated organisation. If you are not a member of the NSW CVRN, it is free to join.
  • ​Have a leave of absence, as defined by the grant guidelines, and provide the appropriate evidence, as per the guidlines, for the nature and length of this leave.

Funding

  • Up to the value of $25,000 + GST is available to assist with any activity which can be justified to result in a significant contribution and advancement to the applicant’s career and career track record. See guidelines for excluded expenditure items.
  • Only one applicant per person will be funded per funding round.
  • The grant must be expended within 12 months of award.

The NSW Career Advancement Grant provides funding to support EMCRs who are returning to research after a significant leave of absence and subsidises activities to build the capacity and capability of these researchers.
