About the Grant

The South Australian Travel Grants support cardiovascular-related travel and activities that contribute to professional development, research capability, and knowledge exchange within the cardiovascular sector. Applicants submit a single application. If successful, funding is allocated internally based on the nature of the proposed travel.

What can the Grants be used for?

  • Travel to attend a cardiovascular-related conference or meeting
  • Travel to gain experience or training with other cardiovascular professionals
  • Costs associated with inviting recognised cardiovascular experts from interstate or overseas
  • Costs of hosting a cardiovascular-related meeting within Australia

Eligibility

Key eligibility criteria:

  • Be a South Australian resident
  • Be a cardiovascular health professional, postgraduate student, or researcher
  • Be applying for future travel only (retrospective applications for travel already undertaken are not eligible)
  • Meet one of the travel criteria listed above
  • Declare any similar funding received from another source
  • Not have received EO Myers Trust funding in the previous two years

Grant value

For the 2026 round, the Grants will be offered at:

  • Up to $2,000 for domestic travel or activities
  • Up to $4,000 for international travel or activities

Travel timing

Funded travel must take place within the same calendar year as the grant round (e.g. for the 2026 round, travel must occur in 2026).

Payment of funds

Grant funds are intended to be paid prior to travel, to assist with upfront costs associated with approved activities.

When can you apply?

The South Australian Travel Grants open once per year.

Applications open: 13 April 2026

Applications close: 15 May 2026

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the Grants Management Portal (GMP).

Applications will require:

  • Completion of the online application form
  • Upload of supporting documentation outlining anticipated costs (quotes or estimates where possible)
  • A letter of support from either a senior manager within your organisation or your academic or clinical supervisor

South Australian Travel Grants 2026 – FAQs

South Australian residents who are cardiovascular health professionals, postgraduate students, or researchers may apply.

Eligibility is based on being a South Australian resident at the time of application. Citizenship or visa status is not assessed as part of the application process.

No. The Grant supports prospective travel only. Applications for travel that has already occurred are not eligible.

Travel must take place after funding approval and within the same calendar year as the funding round. For the 2026 round, eligible travel must occur after funding approval and by 31 December 2026.

Applicants may request:

  • up to $2,000 for domestic travel, or
  • up to $4,000 for international travel,

Applications are assessed by an assessment group convened by SACRN and the Heart Foundation, with relevant expertise in cardiovascular research and practice.   Assessment considers:

  • eligibility
  • alignment with the purpose of the Grant
  • the professional or research benefit of the proposed activity
  • value for money

Yes. Funding is limited, and not all eligible applications may be successful.

Grant funds are intended to be paid prior to travel to assist with upfront costs. Successful applicants will receive payment details as part of their funding offer, including how funds will be provided.

Applications must be submitted through the Grant Management Portal.
