Stroke is a major cause of disability and death worldwide. Besides its more well-known damaging impact on the brain, stroke patients often develop infections. Currently, there are no cures or treatments to manage either of these devastating consequences of stroke. This novel research program will use innovative approaches to better our understanding of stroke biology and recovery, reveal novel pathways for therapeutic targeting, and validate new treatments for stroke.
