Why face-to-face fundraising?

You may have met one of the Heart Foundation’s friendly fundraisers in a shopping centre, on a city street, or perhaps knocking on your door. Our dedicated fundraisers work across Australia throughout the year to raise awareness and vital funds to replace the impact of heart disease with hope and healthier lives. Their role is to invite people to join our Heart Foundation family – a special group of supporters committed to our mission and able to give regularly.

Face-to-face fundraising is the most cost-effective way for us to grow our community of long-term, regular supporters. This approach helps us connect with people across Australia who may not otherwise know about the important work we do, giving them an opportunity to support life-saving research and programs that make a real difference in the fight against heart disease.

Through regular and ongoing support, the Heart Foundation funds critical areas of impact, including cutting-edge research, prevention programs, health information, and advocacy efforts. These consistent, long-term donations allow us to plan ahead, fund programs that shape Australia’s health future, and take a proactive approach to reducing the toll of heart disease, rather than simply reacting to immediate needs.

We understand that face-to-face fundraising can sometimes be misunderstood, and we're happy to answer any questions you may have. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive:

Face-to-face fundraising is one of the most effective ways for us to connect with people in the community. This method helps us raise essential funds to support life-saving research, prevention programs, and advocacy efforts. Through face-to-face engagement, we can answer questions and share information about heart health, building a strong community of regular supporters who play a vital role in our mission.

All Heart Foundation fundraisers carry official identification with their name, photo, and our organisation’s branding. If you’d like to verify a fundraiser, you can contact our Supporter Services team at 13 11 12 or email us at [email protected]. We’re always happy to confirm their credentials and provide peace of mind.

Regular giving through the Heart Foundation supports critical areas of our work. These donations fund ground-breaking heart disease research, prevention programs, public health education, and advocacy initiatives. Regular donations allow us to plan for the future, commit to ongoing programs, and make a long-term impact on reducing the burden of heart disease in Australia.

Absolutely. While regular giving provides consistent support that helps us plan long-term projects, we also welcome one-off donations. Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to our efforts to prevent heart disease and improve heart health for all Australians. Visit our [donation page link] to make a one-time gift.

We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to adjust or cancel your regular donation, please contact our Supporter Services team at 13 11 12 or [email protected]. We’re here to assist you and ensure you’re comfortable with your support.
