Webinar: Lipid lowering landscape: New and emerging treatment approaches

Lipid disorders are the sixth most commonly managed condition in Australian general practice. However, the severity and optimal management of these disorders varies significantly.1 Almost half of high-risk Australians prescribed lipid lowering therapy do not achieve their low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol targets for cardiovascular risk reduction.2

Streamed live during Heart Week 2022, this webinar explores the latest evidence on the management of high cholesterol in the context of cardiovascular risk reduction. Panellists discuss new and emerging pharmacological strategies for lipid lowering and translate the latest evidence to support preventative CVD risk assessment and management.

Duration: 1 hour

Date recorded: 4 May 2022

Topics covered:

  • Update on the mechanisms and role of new and emerging lipid lowering therapies

  • How to titrate and combine pharmacological lipid lowering therapies to optimise management

  • Strategies to identify and address non-adherence

  • Complimentary dietary and lifestyle counselling for people with hypercholesterolaemia

  • What general practices can do to champion CVD prevention and implement structured screening program
