Building digital health trust to improve cardiovascular disease prevention in chronic kidney disease
Dr Jaimon Kelly, Institution: The University of Queensland
2021 Postdoctoral Fellowship
Years funded: 2022-2023
Cardiovascular disease is responsible for over 50% of deaths per year in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). While digital health technologies and models of care have been touted as a solution to prevent cardiovascular disease, evidence shows that 9 in 10 Australians do not trust them. This presents one of the greatest challenges for the Australian healthcare system. Dr Jaimon Kelly's Fellowship aims to improve digital health trust and confidence to prevent cardiovascular disease in people living with CKD.
This Fellowship will conduct two original research studies, to:
(i) quantify and qualify the constructs of digital health trust and confidence in cardiovascular prevention strategies through digital health; and
(ii) identify the priorities and codesign solutions to improve digital health trust and confidence in cardiovascular prevention strategies through digital health.
The key outcomes from this Fellowship can transform cardiovascular prevention through greater adoption and access to digital health care for people with CKD.
