The following researchers have been awarded an innovation award for submitting the top innovative projects.
Dr Shirley E Freeman AM (1924 - 2014) was the first female to receive funding from the Heat Foundation, receiving £1250 in 1961 for her project “Mechanisms of respiratory control in cardiac muscle”. Her work with Dr Paul Fantl on the mechanism of blood clotting led to the development of warfarin.
