What you can expect
You’ll be guided through this training by Emma Hall and Cristina Hernandez Santin from Village Well.
Emma and Cristina bring a wealth of experience in placemaking, community engagement, and project design. Throughout the modules, they’ll share practical tips, real-world examples, and tools to help you plan and deliver successful Active Australia Innovation Challenge (AAIC) projects.

Emma Hall, Village Well
Emma is a strategic placemaker and innovator with experience in Architecture, Urban Design, Community Engagement, Social Programming, and Strategy. Emma's strategic oversight ensures alignment with client and stakeholder aspirations, providing the best outcomes for places and communities and building the capacity of those involved.
Cristina Hernandez, Village Well
Cristina has over 15 years of experience in regenerative design and is one of the authors who first coined the term regenerative placemaking. Cristina has a PhD in Biodiversity Inclusive Design from RMIT, a process to bring non-human voices into 'city-making' processes. Cris's passion for learning and sharing knowledge and her system-thinking skills translate into an evidence-based and nuanced understanding of your place.
Sunet Jordaan, Heart Foundation
Sunet is a strategic evaluation leader with over 18 years of experience in designing, commissioning and delivering evaluations across the health and education sectors in Australia and South Africa. Her work spans physical activity interventions, services for survivors of gender-based violence, and large-scale education programs.
With deep expertise in Theories of Change and logic models, Sunet supports government departments and not-for-profit organisations to build effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks, use evidence in decision-making, and plan for impact. Her thoughtful, systems-informed approach ensures that interventions are not only evidence-based but also responsive to the needs of communities they aim to serve.
