Coronavirus (COVID-19) and cardiovascular disease
Global research suggests that older people and people with chronic health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, are at higher risk of dying from COVID-19 than the average population.
The reasons for this increased risk are still being investigated and are likely to be complex.
Further information about Coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found at the Department of Health website.
Advice for people living with cardiovascular disease:
Take steps to avoid infection as recommended by the Department of Health, including:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water.
- Using a tissue and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
- Avoiding close contact with others, such as touching.
Take your medications as prescribed by your doctor.
