Australian Indigenous Scholarships

These scholarships are designed to encourage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to undertake a PhD or masters by research in cardiovascular research.

The goal of this scholarship is to strengthen the capacity and workforce in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cardiovascular research.

We believe this, in turn, will have a positive impact on the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who have increased mortality rates from heart disease than non-Indigenous Australians.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Any area of cardiovascular health research including biomedical, clinical, public health and health service delivery.

Duration

Up to 2 years for masters and up to 3 years for PhD
