Jump Rope For Heart Outreach Program

The Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart Outreach Program is a school-based physical activity and heart-health program for selected schools in NSW.  It is a fun, inclusive, and non-competitive program based around skipping.

It is for schools where the traditional and hugely popular Jump Rope for Heart program isn't practical or viable.

What the program does

The program delivers the same physical activity and heart-health aspects of the traditional program, however the core difference is that there is no requirement for students to fundraise in order to participate.

Typically offered in schools located in rural, remote, and disadvantaged communities where the risk of developing heart disease is higher, Jump Rope for Heart Outreach teaches students the importance of keeping their hearts healthy through physical activity participation and healthy eating.

What the program involves

The program is easy to access and readily integrated into the NSW curriculum and school timetable. The Jump Rope for Heart Outreach Program comprises of:

  • A school visit and skipping workshop with an outreach Project Officer
  • Free resources to support school lead activities
  • Typically run over a four to eight week period - the program is flexible and can be tailored to what best suits a school's needs
  • Ongoing support from an outreach Project Officer
