We know that being physically active is great for your heart health, but many Australians do not get enough exercise.

One in seven Australian adults do no physical activity. When you miss out on being active, you increase your risk of developing heart disease.

That's why we need more heart health champions!

Heart health champions get their game on at the XVII Australian Masters Games

The Australian Masters Games are being held in Adelaide from 5 - 12 October 2019. The games, one of Australia’s largest sporting events, will see 8,000 athletes compete in 51 sports, from archery to volleyball. For most sports, the event is open to athletes over the age of 30.

The Heart Foundation is the official charity partner of the Masters Games.

Our relationship focuses on helping participants to become heart health champions.

Because athletes competing in the Masters Games are active, they are already heart health champions; that’s why the Heart Foundation is supporting them to learn more about other heart disease risk factors, many of which are preventable.

We hope their participation and success at the games inspires their friends and family to get active for better heart health.

Support the Heart Foundation at the Masters Games, even if you’re not competing

The Heart Foundation supports Australians to get moving for better heart health. One of the ways we do this is through our popular Walking program, which empowers more than 40,000 people to step towards better heart health.

During the Masters Games, our Walking program will host a free walking event, and all participants are welcome to join in. If you are not at the Games, you can find out more, or join your local walking group, by going to the Heart Foundation Walking website.

How can you support the Heart Foundation at the Masters Games?

The Heart Foundation relies on the generosity of everyday Australians to support our fight against heart disease: Australia’s biggest killer.

Eighty per cent of our funding comes from the generous giving of everyday Australians; their backing means we can invest in heart health research and patient support programs.

Many amazing Masters Games competitors are raising funds for the Heart Foundation. You can support them by going to their online fundraising page; just click on Sponsor A Friend on the Heart Foundation’s Masters Games webpage.
