Free blood pressure checks at TerryWhite Chemmart
The Heart Foundation and TerryWhite Chemmart have teamed up once again to encourage Australians to visit pharmacies to have a free blood pressure check from 20th September to 30th October.
High blood pressure is known as the silent killer because there are no obvious signs and it is a leading risk factor for heart disease. The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to have it checked.
By partnering with TerryWhite Chemmart, we are proud to offer an easy and accessible way for everyone to know their blood pressure.
Your local TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacist or pharmacy assistant can measure your blood pressure free of charge, at which point the pharmacist on duty will talk through your results and provide support where you need it, including referral to your general practitioner. For a test that takes such a small amount of time, it could make a huge impact on your life.
If you have high blood pressure, the good news is there is a lot you can do through your lifestyle that will help such as maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, eating a healthy balanced diet, limiting alcohol and not smoking.
In more serious cases, controlling high blood pressure may require prescription medications. Getting the most out of your medications is best seen as a partnership between you, your doctor and pharmacist. Whilst taking medicine for your blood pressure, it’s also important and helpful to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Australians can also help us continue to save lives by making a small donation to the Heart Foundation at TerryWhite Chemmart checkouts or online now. Every donation will help us continue our lifesaving research, education and prevention programs.
