Blood pressure (1)

In 2014/15, 3.11 million Australians aged 45 and over had high blood pressure (140/90mmHg or higher).

This represents more than one in three Australians aged 45 and over with unmanaged or uncontrolled high blood pressure. (1)

Total cholesterol (2)

In 2011/12, 3.5 million Australians aged 45 and over had high total cholesterol (≥5.5 mmol/L). This represents more than two in five Australians aged 45 and over with unmanaged or controlled high total cholesterol.

Overweight / obesity (1)

Close to three in every four, or an estimated 6.5 million Australians aged 45 and over were either overweight or obese. In addition, more than one in three Australians aged 55 to 74 were obese, or with a BMI 30 or more. Similarly, three in every four Australians aged 45 and over were at risk of chronic disease based on waist circumference. (1)
