Run, walk, skip, cycle or roller blade your way around Lake Burleigh Griffin on Sunday May 6 and help us raise $75,000 to keep this campaign going in the local area to save more lives from heart attack.
Darren Wall died of a fatal heart attack in 1999 but his legacy lives on in the ACT Fire Brigade today.
Darren was as a proud and dedicated “Firie” who served in the ACT Fire Brigade for more than 12 years. He was known for his infectious enthusiasm and for his efforts to go above and beyond the call of duty. Generations of fit Firies are testament to the leadership and example of Darren.
Sadly, Darren had a sudden heart attack on an early morning bike ride on May 7, 1999.
The Darren Wall ACT Emergency Services Heart Challenge, formally titled the Daren Wall Heart Foundation Fun Run, is now in its 12th year and is held in honour of Darren Wall to raise awareness of the warning signs of heart attack.
Each year around 55,000 Australians suffer a heart attack - that’s one every 10 minutes - and heart attack claims 10,335 lives - that’s an average 28 each day.
The Heart Foundation’s Warning Sign of Heart Attack campaign aims to save lives by informing people of the warning signs and encouraging them to respond quickly by calling Triple Zero.
