Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the 'Jump Off' day?
Generally schools run the program over a 3 - 10 week period. At the end of the program schools hold a Jump Off day. It is the climax of the program giving students an opportunity to perform a variety of rope-jumping techniques they have learned throughout the program. You can work with the students in teams and have each team develop a routine to perform on Jump Off day. Refer to the teacher’s manual and wall posters included in the resource kit for various rope-jumping skills and games.
Focusing on fun, group activities and community spirit, the Jump Off day is often enjoyed by the students’ family, friends and the local community.
Jump Off day also marks the end of fundraising for students. Online fundraising is finalised and cash funds raised are returned to the school on this date and forwarded to the Heart Foundation by the school coordinator.
2. Do I have to hold the Jump Off day at a specific time of the year?
Generally your Jump Off day can be conducted during any school term, but as Term 4 can be such a busy time, we recommend holding it in Term 2 or early Term 3. If you do opt to hold your Jump Off in Term 4, please ensure it is held a number of weeks before the end of term (to allow adequate time for prize processing and delivery before the holiday break). The program must be completed by the end of the school year.
3. What preparation do the students need to do prior to the Jump Off' day?
It is best if the students have mastered some basic skipping skills when they perform on their school’s Jump Off day.
Students should also be able to demonstrate their ability and understanding of why they are participating in the program including:
- to improve their fitness and skills
- to increase their knowledge and understanding of heart health issues
- to raise money for the Heart Foundation to fund essential research and health programs.
4. What about the rebate?
The program offers all schools that raise over $200 a rebate of 10% of the total funds raised. (Maximum rebate available is at $2,000). The 10% rebate can otherwise be provided to your school in kind as skipping ropes, or alternatively, you can nominate these funds be donated back to the Heart Foundation, . Schools select their rebate option at the time of registration.
5. Do we take out our 10 per cent rebate prior to sending in the funds raised for the Heart Foundation?
It is a requirement that all funds are submitted to the Heart Foundation. Your school would then need to provide an invoice for the rebate amount for us to raise a rebate cheque.
