If you think heart disease only affects older men, you’re wrong. It kills almost as many women as it does men and is the number one killer of women in Australia. Surprised? Recent Heart Foundation commissioned research with women aged 45-64 years shows women continue to hold onto a number of myths about heart disease and have limited knowledge of what heart disease is. Perhaps of most concern is that many women do not see heart disease as relevant to them. So it’s important for us all to find out the truth about heart disease - it could save the life of someone you love, or even your own.
Go Red for Women is the Heart Foundation’s campaign to raise awareness of heart disease as a women’s health issue and promote healthier choices.
This year’s campaign encourages women to talk about their heart health with their friends and help spread the facts about women and heart disease. Supporting the Go Red campaign is easy and will help save the lives of many Australian women just like you. Show your support by:
