Workplaces across Australia support the GRFW Campaign
It was great to see an increase in support for the Go Red for Women (GRFW) campaign this year from health services and hospitals around the country whose staff, patients and visitors wore red on Go Red for Women Day to raise awareness about women and heart disease.
Staff at the Waranga Community Health Centre (VIC) came together to put on a GRFW afternoon tea – guests wore red and gave a gold coin donation to raise funds for the Heart Foundation.
A number of other workplaces around Australia also donned their finest red in support of the campaign, with many holding morning/afternoon teas with gold coin donations to raise money for the Heart Foundation including:
- Bankstown - Lindcombe Hospital (NSW)
- Canterbury Hospital (NSW)
- Concord Hospital (NSW)
- Campbelltown Hospital (NSW)
- Staff at the Burnie Community Health centre (TAS)
Teachers, pupils and their mothers at Southwood Boys Grammar in Ringwood (VIC) held a “red” morning tea on GRFW day. Everyone wore red and donations were collected, raising a total of $400 for the Heart Foundation.
The Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce (WA) hosted a GRFW breakfast at the Cruising Yacht Club. Guests were encouraged to wear red to the event and talk to their friends about heart health. During the breakfast a talk was given about balancing career and health followed by a Qi Gong demonstration.
While these provide a snapshot of the support and participation from workplaces around the country for the this years campaign, we know there were a lot of other exciting events and activities run during June. We’d love to hear if you did anything in your workplace, so please email us at gored@heartfoundation.org.au with a short blurb and any photos you might have.
A big thank you to everyone who dressed in red, organised an event, raised money or talked to their friends about heart disease.

In addition to the magazine coverage, 30 Days of Heath and Wellbeing was supported online via www.30daysofhealthandwellbeing.com.au. The website showcased up to date health news, tips and information as well an event calendar (including our Go Red for Women events) and an expert Q&A section, where online readers could ask the panel of experts their heath and wellbeing questions. In support of Go Red for Women day, the website 'went red’ on Friday 11 June.
30 Days of Health and Wellbeing was launched on Friday 28 May from 7am at Bondi Beach, Sydney and hosted by 30 Days of Heath & Wellbeing ambassador Giaan Rooney. The launch included a celebrity fitness challenge, health check stalls, a breakfast and was televised on the TODAY show via live crosses throughout the morning.
