Overseas Research Fellowships
Overseas Research Fellowships are available to medical and science graduates who have completed a PhD or MD award within the last 24 months.
The purpose of the Heart Foundation's Overseas Research Fellowship scheme is to support the training of Australian researchers seeking to begin or maintain a postdoctoral position overseas. This award is designed to help fellows train and acquire new skills that will help accelerate their career development.
Applicants must be conducting research relevant to cardiovascular disease or its related disorders. This three year award enables researchers to undertake postdoctoral training overseas for two years prior to returning to Australia for the final year of funding. As a condition of this award, fellows must return to Australia to complete their final third year of research.
Applicants are expected to have at least two years of cardiovascular research experience and must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status.
Applicants who have already planned/taken up a postdoctoral position overseas may also apply, provided they are within 12 months of the commencement of the position (at the time of application).
