Online learning with the Heart Foundation
The Heart Foundation supports professionals working in health by providing online learning modules focused on improving cardiovascular care.
Three online courses are available from the Heart Foundation:
- BeAWARE of warning signs of heart attack and stroke - this online learning module supports non-clinical staff to promptly identify patients who call or attend with suspected warning signs of heart attack or stroke.
- BeAWARE Pharmacy - register your interest now. This online learning module supports pharmacists and pharmacy assistants to promptly identify and educate the warning signs of heart attack to customers with coronary heart disease (CHD).
- Improving adherence in cardiovascular care: A toolkit for health professionals - these online learning modules are aimed at a multi-disciplinary audience of GP's, practice nurses and pharmacists. The 'Adherence toolkit' is a series of six interactive case discussions exploring Quality Use of Medicine concepts with a focus on medication adherence. The modules aim to help health professionals develop strategies to identify and address these issues, to support better health outcomes for their patients.

Additional online learning modules available through other providers
- Cardiovascular disease risk assessment and management for practice nurses
This online learning program is based on the Guidelines for the management of absolute cardiovascular disease risk. This course summarises the key recommendations, explores the concept of risk factors versus absolute risk and builds confidence in using the online absolute cardiovascular disease risk calculator. This course also introduces Heart Foundation programs and resources to support assessment and management and inspire practice changes to improve systematic assessment and management of your patients.
This activity has been endorsed by the Australian Practice Nurse Association according to approved criteria for 1.5 CPD hours.
