Queensland Election Submission 2012
The Heart Foundation’s Queensland Election Submission 2012 puts forward 20 policy proposals to improve the heart health of Queenslanders. We are seeking the commitment of the major Parties to address the devastating impact of heart disease. These 20 proposals focus on heart attack prevention, improved cardiac rehabilitation services, support for people with heart failure, improved regional and Indigenous heart health, reduced obesity, greater physical activity participation, increased fruit and vegetable consumption, less smoking in our population and greater support for heart research in Queensland. Queensland government food policy consultation (August 2011) The Heart Foundation Queensland submission to Food for a Growing Economy: An economic development framework for the Queensland food industry focused on the links between food and health, in particular, food security and food access for vulnerable populations on a community, household and individual level; food supply to remote Indigenous communities; and planning and environmental considerations such as resource constraints, impacts of climate change, and land use planning which protects good quality agricultural land. Queensland government climate change adaptation consultation (October 2011) The Heart Foundation Queensland submission to Climate Change Adaptation for Queensland Issues Paper focused on the impacts of climate change adaptation on long term food supply and therefore health in Queensland, in particular, urban food production; regionalisation (decentralisation) of the food industry; increasing resilience of the food supply in vulnerable areas; and food pricing.
