What we do
For more than fifty years, the Heart Foundation has been dedicated to saving lives by making a difference to the heart health of all Australians. Donations from the community help us to fund vital research, develop guidelines for health professionals, support patient care and help Australians to live healthier lifestyles.
There is much more to do, and we are determined to save as many lives as we can in our quest to beat cardiovascular disease, Australia's leading cause of death.

Our strategy for 2013-2017
For all hearts: Making a difference to Australia's heart health
 |
Our purpose is to reduce premature death and suffering from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease in Australia. To do this, we will prioritise work that helps to create environments that promote heart health and improves access to quality services for those with risk factors for heart disease, or who have experienced a cardiac event. |
We will embark on a significant new journey on health equity – where we will address disparities among those communities that suffer disproportionately from cardiovascular disease. And we will continue to focus on evidence-based prevention and treatment, by facilitating the generation and translation of research evidence. |
