Health Information Service
The Heart Foundation knows dealing with heart disease or stroke is an issue that affects the daily lives of many Australians. One in three Australians die as a result, whilst for many more it restricts quality of life.  Apart from seeing a doctor, people are unsure where else to turn for information.

That's why we developed our Health Information Service. It was introduced to give people with cardiovascular disease, those with identified risk factors and those people who simply want to develop healthier lifestyles, access to vital information about heart heath.

Every year we deal with around 50,000 enquiries about issues like nutrition and healthy eating, blood pressure and cholesterol, smoking cessation, physical activity and heart surgery.  You can even learn about relevant programs and request free information booklets on any of these topics.

Our qualified health professionals are here to turn to when you need comprehensive information.  The support they provide can help ensure that you and your heart enjoy full quality of life. Remember, heart disease is largely preventable so contact us today to discover the changes you can make now to improve your heart health.

    Medicines

    Medicine Name Finder tool
The Heart Foundation is partnering with the National Prescribing Service (NPS) to offer you simple tools to gain more information about the medicines you may be taking.

Most medicines have two names: the active ingredient name and the brand name. It’s important to be able to identify each of your medicines by the active ingredient as well the brand name.

Knowing the active ingredient name will help you avoid confusing your medicines and perhaps taking too much or not enough. Also, it is particularly important if you are given a different brand of prescription medicine than usual when your prescription is dispensed.

Just click the button below to start using the NPS Medicine Name Finder:
