Heart Foundation - kids
Healthy Kids

The Heart Foundation recognises that heart healthy habits are formed in the early years, so we aim to work with Australian schools and children to promote healthy eating and physical activity.

Physical activity in school
One of our best known programs for getting kids active is Jump Rope for Heart, which has been active in Australia for over 25 years.

More about Jump Rope for Heart.

Out of school hours care
Eat Smart, Play Smart - A manual for out of school hours care is now available to out of school hours care programs throughout Australia.

More about Eat Smart, Play Smart.

Teaching resources
The Heart Foundation produces a range of brochures and posters for health professionals, people living with heart disease and the general public. These publications are fantastic resources for the classroom.

Healthy Ideas for Young Hearts
The Heart Foundation has developed two booklets in the Healthy Ideas for Young Hearts series, "Practical ideas for parents and carers" and "Cooking activities for kids". To order these booklets, please contact our Health Information Service on 1300 36 27 87 or email us.

We have also summarised some practical ideas for meals and snacks in a poster to put on your fridge or noteboard. You can download this poster below (see 'Resources').
