Jump Rope for Heart in South Australia

In 2008 we will be celebrating Jump Rope for Heart's 25th birthday! Included in the activities will be the Guinness World Record attempt in term 2, the 10th annual Demonstration Team Competition in term 3, and the ACHPER PE Week Mass Jump Off in term 4.

ETSA Park is among the accredited venues for the Guinness World Record attempt in South Australia - Friday 9 May, 2008 at 11.00am. For a school to participate in the Guinness World Record attempt, they will need to be registered to do Jump Rope for Heart in 2008. As well as raising money to help the Heart Foundation's fight against heart disease and stroke, a registered school can enjoy the benefits of Heart Foundation skipping resources, including the registration kit, a demo team visit and workshops/inservices conducted by Heart Foundation staff.

Testimonials from teachers in 2007

The skills with skipping have increased dramatically. Many choose to skip at lunchtime. Everything is supplied. If in any doubt, there is always an answer just a phone call away. I enjoyed being part of it and seeing the enthusiasm of the children - Marg, Clapham Primary School.

Teachers remarked that even their 'naughty kids' were fully involved and enjoying themselves. Students were already talking about next year - Barb, Hackham East Primary School.

It is an excellent alternative for a school s PE program, particularly in winter. The numbers of students physically active at lunch and recess time has increased dramatically. It has been particularly beneficial to the less active and coordinated students. It is good to see that the fundraising incentive prizes are also related to physical activity - Andy, St Francis De Sales College.

Jump Rope For Heart was brilliant. We had kids that could not skip at all but were doing tricks by the end of the term. Their emotional well being soared. We had a fantastic time and thanks for supporting us. We were happy to raise money for the Heart Foundation - Catherine, Wilmington Primary School.

Jump Rope For Heart all the way! Thanks for your help very professional. Everyone WINS - Marc, Flaxmill Primary School.
